NOISE GENERATORS

Picture
BBGen pcb (instrument grade output flatness specification)
100 kHz - 5 GHz noise generator, PCB sub assembly, typically 24 dB* ENR
Extremely flat output, typically <+/-1dB over the whole operating range.

(*24 dB ENR = -90 dBm/MHz, so e.g. -110 dBm in 10 kHz bandwidth)

Please note! ... the BBGen output power density maybe too low for your application? Please check.
The BBGen data sheet frequency characteristic graphs are dB (relative) and NOT dBm.

Datasheet pdf   Application note AN-1 pdf
BBGen PCB sub assembly GBP £84.00 plus shipping.

Picture
BBGen+ pcb (when you need more output, NOT flat, see output slope specification)
20 kHz - 6 GHz noise generator, PCB sub assembly, typically 44 dB* ENR at 430 MHz

Ultra wideband.   (*44 dB ENR = -70 dBm/MHz, so e.g. -90 dBm in 10 kHz bandwidth)

Please note! ... the BBGen+ output power density maybe too low for your application? Please check.
The BBGen+ data sheet amplitude characteristic graphs are dB (relative) and NOT dBm.
If you are in any doubt please don't hesitate to contact us for advice.

Datasheet pdf
BBGen+ PCB sub assembly GBP £97.00 plus shipping.

Picture
XGen pcb (excellent output flatness specification)
5 GHz - 12 GHz noise generator, PCB sub assembly, typically 20 dB* ENR
X Band.   (*20 dB ENR = -94 dBm/MHz, so e.g. -114 dBm in 10 kHz bandwidth)
Datasheet pdf      XGen flatness test note pdf
XGen PCB sub assembly GBP £88.00 plus shipping

BBGen, BBGen+ and XGen /BOXED ...
Diecast screened enclosure with Tusonix filtered DC power input (solder tags).
52x37x31 mm approximately, plus connectors.
XGen BOXED includes absorber to dampen resonances.
Specify /BOXED and add GBP £45.00 to the sub assembly price above.

About our noise generators ...
  • Flatness and spurious responses. All RFD noise sources are spurious free and most are designed for flatness, or a defined and stable output characteristic.
  • Short term stability. RFD noise semiconductors were selected as part of an 18 month development project in 2010. Whilst a noise generator circuit is very simple, stable operation over temperature and time is not easily achieved.
  • Long term stability. We have built, calibrated and supplied a large number of sources since 2010. We have real time ageing data from life tests. Our noise sources demonstrate superior characteristics day to day and year to year.
  • Output match. Our sources are specified for output VSWR. Low cost sources in general have poorly defined source impedance.
  • Component quality. All our products use traceable high quality components.
  • Life long owner support by email, helping you with your measurements.
With our instruments we like to think you very much get what you pay for, professionally specified high grade products at reasonable prices!
